Am vergangenen Wochenende starteten die jüngsten Rugbyspieler*innen der U08 und U12 erfolgreich in ihre Saison. Bei herbstlichem Wetter fand das erste Turnier der Saison statt, bei dem vor allem die U08-Spieler*innen zum ersten Mal Wettkampfluft schnupperten. Trotz der Aufregung hielten sie sich gut an die Grundregeln und zeigten beachtliche Leistungen. Viele der jungen Talente schafften es sogar, ihren ersten Try zu erzielen – ein tolles Erlebnis für die Kinder und ihre stolzen Trainer*innen.

Auch die U12 zeigte eine beeindruckende Vorstellung. In vier Spielen überzeugten sie durch eine starke Organisation und konnten sowohl im Angriff als auch in der Verteidigung ordentlich Druck aufbauen. Mit ihrem dynamischen und strukturierten Spiel legten sie einen starken Start in die Saison hin.

Zeitgleich war die U14 bei einem Turnier in Basel aktiv. Für sie war es bereits das zweite Turnier der Saison, und die Fortschritte waren klar erkennbar. Besonders erfreulich war ihre Fähigkeit, mehrere Spielphasen aneinanderzureihen und das Spiel strategisch zu gestalten. Das Team setzt seinen positiven Entwicklungskurs fort und steigert sich von Spiel zu Spiel.

Am Sonntag standen dann die U16 und U19 der Northern Lions im Fokus, die in Würenlos gegen den RC Zug antraten. Trotz eines motivierten Auftritts und viel Einsatz musste sich die U16 knapp mit 10:20 geschlagen geben. Die Mannschaft zeigte jedoch großes Engagement und lässt auf eine erfolgreiche Saison hoffen.

Für die U19 war es hingegen ein schwieriger Tag. Gegen das starke Team aus Zug taten sie sich schwer, konnten aber dennoch einen Try verbuchen. Das Endergebnis lautete 7:66, doch das Team wird sicherlich an den Erfahrungen wachsen und mit neuem Elan in die kommenden Spiele gehen.

Das Wochenende war trotz einiger Niederlagen geprägt von Teamgeist, Motivation und sichtbaren Fortschritten in allen Altersklassen – ein vielversprechender Auftakt in die neue Rugby-Saison!

Last weekend, the youngest rugby players from the U08 and U12 teams kicked off their season with a successful start. In autumnal weather, the first tournament of the season took place, with many U08 players experiencing their first competitive matches. Despite the nerves, they adhered well to the basic rules and delivered impressive performances. Many young talents even scored their first try, a fantastic achievement for both the children and their proud coaches.

The U12 team also put on a strong showing. In four games, they impressed with their organization and were able to apply pressure both offensively and defensively. With their dynamic and structured play, they marked a strong start to the season.

At the same time, the U14 team competed in a tournament in Basel. It was their second tournament of the season, and their progress was evident. Particularly noteworthy was their ability to string together multiple phases of play, showcasing their growing strategic understanding. The team continues to improve, building on each game.

On Sunday, the U16 and U19 Northern Lions took center stage, playing against RC Zug in Würenlos. Despite a motivated performance and great effort, the U16 narrowly lost 10-20. The team showed a lot of determination and promises a successful season ahead.

For the U19, it was a tough day. Facing a strong Zug side, they struggled but managed to score a try. The final score was 7-66, but the team will undoubtedly grow from this experience and return with renewed energy for the upcoming matches.

Despite a few losses, the weekend was marked by team spirit, motivation, and visible progress across all age groups – a promising start to the new rugby season!
